Herald Open For Business for Breaking News
As you have probably noted by now, God’s plans for the West Brazos Herald are that it eventually be mainly a print publication distributed weekly. There are many reasons for that, and we intend to address those in future posts. (Probably the most prominent reason is that, well, the Bible is a print publication first, but we digress for now.) But, of course, print publications are not usually the best sources for important “breaking news” such as wild weather, hazardous road conditions, and other local emergencies.
So, simple enough, that’s where this site comes in handy.
We pray West Brazos Herald will eventually become your go-to source for accurate, honest, and prayerful breaking news in Brazoria, Sweeny, West Columbia and more.
Starting now, when we hear of a developing “breaking news” situation in town, we’ll look into the matter and post the what-you-most-need-to-know facts in this section of the site. And then we’ll follow up with more details in our print editions (once the print editions are a thing, of course).
Of course, the words “when we hear” above are key. Especially in this start-up stage, when our full-time crew is still being formed, we will likely need your ears, dear reader. Please do not hesitate to contact us when you know of breaking news. Any time is fine. We’ll look into the matter as quickly as we can (and please remember that, during our start-up phase, our staff is very small and stretched very thin), and post here as God wills.
And, again, because we’re on a skeleton crew these days, we’ll always be excited to bring you on board as a volunteer reporter (maybe with the idea that you’ll become one of our full-time writers later, who knows). If you’d care to take an “on-call” shift every now and then to check into road accidents, fires, and other emergencies that may arise, well, we’d love to have you. Just contact us for details, and we can get you started.
