Jones Creek Churches Celebrate Thanksgiving Together

Here are a few of the scenes from Jones Creek’s Annual Community Thanksgiving Worship Service held this year at St. Joseph Baptist Church. Rev. Brent Pittman of Jones Creek Baptist Church delivered the main message at the service. It centered on Psalm 136, particularly the phracse “His love endures forever.”

The event is an annual celebration of the Churches of Jones Creek Ministerial Association comprised of the pastors of the city’s five churches: Edward Bess of Father’s House Church; Thomas Wessman of Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church; Tim Wiebe of Jones Creek Assembly of God; Brent Pittman of Jones Creek Baptist Church and Edward Dawson of St. Joseph Baptist Church.

“Jesus is coming soon,” Pittman said to applause from his fellow worshipers. “As you see that day approaching, just love one another.”
St. Joseph Pastor Dawson leads all worshipers in prayer over the group’s Thanksgiving offering. All money collected during the service each year — as well as the association’s annual Easter service — goes to the Ministerial Association and the five pastors use it collectively for a variety of causes benefiting people in Jones Creek.
After worship, the group gathered for food and fellowship in the SJBC fellowship hall.
